You’re Not Getting a Call Back Because You’re a Bone Head or . . .

you’re lazy or both. Here’s the deal. If you’re going to apply for a job, apply like you mean it. If there are particular requirements in the job description, make sure you lead with your ability to address them. Before you apply, go to LinkedIn and see if you are connected to anyone at the company, if so, ask for an introduction to the hiring manager as you are submitting your application. The point, be extraordinary and go the extra mile, but what ever you do, don’t be bone head! At A Sales Guy we attack job descriptions a little different.  We don’t ask for resumes, we ask for their social presence and an email. This is how our job description request reads; If this is you, hit us up with your online presence at badass@asalesguy.com  NO RESUMES!!!  Send us links to your entire social presence: LinkedIn, Twitter, Blog, GooglePlus, Facebook etc.  with a brief description on why you’re a bad ass recruiter.  So, here is the million dollar question. How many applicants do you think actually followed the instructions?  Come on, take a stab. We had 43 applications this month.  How many folks hit us up with their social presence, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, 1?  How many do think?  Lemme help you out, NONE!  Not one applicant applied like we asked. Everyone sent a resume and didn’t provide their social presence or why they would be a bad ass recruiter. That’s being boneheaded.  When an employer asks you to do something and you don’t do it, you’re basically saying, I’m too lazy to do things the way you ask. Which is a telling sign on the type of employee you’d be. A Sales Guy Recruiting has been looking for recruiter for several months and less than 1% of the applicants actually follow the instructions. If folks aren’t getting it done with us, we can only assume they’re screwing up the interview and applicant process with everyone. Here’s the point, if you want to get a job, be exceptional not a bonehead or even worse lazy. If you can’t apply for a job as requested, how the hell is an employer going to believe you can do the job. Don’t be a bonehead!
