Life Is Good!

This quote arrived in my email one day last week from a daily inspiration I receive: “I instantly realized that everything in my life that I’d thought was unfix-able was totally fixable – except for having just jumped.” said a Golden Gate Bridge jump survivor. As I was reading the quote, I felt a knot in my stomach and was happy to have read the last part about being a survivor. Having lived in the Bay area for a few years, I actually visualized someone jumping and know how lucky that person was to survive, as 98% of the people who jump don’t survive. I did some research on the person this was about and found his story. He was depressed about his job and thought he was going to get fired. At first this didn’t seem at all like a motivation as I actually felt pain for this person, but realizing this person now had a second chance was the motivation I took away from this. A chance to do something different than he was doing before. I had a pretty tough week last week and didn’t seem on my game, so this inspiration made me think about making some changes to improve next week and not repeat the week I had before. So, if you’re a job seeker looking for a job and you’ve had a number of interviews, but no job offers, think about changing something in your process. Look at your resume. Can you improve it? Does it show your accomplishments not just your job history? When you interview are you prepared with great questions? Don’t just keep doing the same thing and expect something to change. If you’re a sales person who is having a tough month or two and aren’t making quota think about the role you play with your clients and see if you should change it up. Don’t get stuck in a rut for too long. Make sure to take a look at what you’re doing and see if there is something new you can add to your process. What is your take away from this quote and did you find it motivational?
